Hajin Kang is well known for his work in paintings on canvas and installation. Although Hajin works mostly on canvas, his recent works on paper are a window into his life long experiment on space, shape and color. Hajin paints minimalist shapes using limited colors to explore the tensity between memories from his Korean culture and his present philosophical approach to his practice. In Natural Rhythm, he depicts his particular keenness on the effect of light on the paper doors of the HanOk. These doors are made with handmade mulberry paper on a wooden frame and when light shines through the thin layer of paper, it is diffused with softness. This plays a significant role in the details that Hajin produces with his dots and graphic lines.
